PET THERAPY

I find that having an animal around can offer a supportive element to the experience of therapy, that sometimes a therapist can’t.  Currently, I have two rescue cats that frequent the therapy office (on their own terms, of course) and one therapy dog-in-training. Also, many existing clients bring their dogs to sessions or we will go on nature-based therapeutic walks with their dogs.  If you are interested in knowing if your canine friend can come to therapy with you, please inquire upon booking!

Cassie & Rory

I have a soft spot for individuals with rough starts, so when I met Cassie and Rory, I knew immediately that I wanted to help them. They were born during a snowy March and lived on the streets until they were brought to the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS). At that time, they were thin, very fearful, and hissed and hid from all people. I adopted them, and offered them a safe place where they could finally let their guards down. Over the coming months, these two went from wild, street cats to two of the most loving and playful kitties I have ever been guardian to. It’s amazing how trust and safety can be just the foundation we need to reach our potential!

Jesse

Therapy dog-in-training

Jesse, like his feline sisters, is a rescue from EHS.  He was turned into the pound for being too excitable.  His former owner reported that he was destructive and disobedient.  Much like the cats, it seems that Jesse just did not have the right supports in his life to thrive.  Since moving home, Jesse has responded incredibly well to all training efforts. He is a playful, happy, and eager-to-please dog.
